Quilting the Winter Quilt - last post on this quilt

One final word about my winter quilt
A quilt isn't a quilt until it's quilted!
I chose threads that matched different areas of the quilt - I love the Sulky brand for quilting!

these are the colors I used for this project!
I keep my special threads in a large jar - they stay fresher that way.  Just kidding!  It just looks pretty in my sewing room.

I went on line to search for simple snow flake pattern and I traced it on to quilting paper
It's thinner than pre printed
and it's transparent - easier to tear away at the end and easier to copy the snowflake design

I pinned drawn snowflakes all over the quilt.  I "cut" the quilt top into a top and bottom before making the quilt sandwich.  I have a home machine so doing the quilting in 2 smaller pieces is more manageable.
I have to move my machine to the dining room table when quilting!  The quilt slides more easily.

This is the view on the back.  I have learned the hard way that the backing matters!  No matter if it's hanging on the wall or laying on the bed - the back of the quilt will peek out!  If it's a kids quilt - the back will show all the time!
Put some thought into the backing!

I think the snowflakes came out sweet!
